Masters Week Frequently Asked Questions:

Really, what is Master’s week all about?

Masters week is all about relationships! If you are trying to solidify a customer, entertaining them at the most elite golf tournament will almost always cause your customer to remain your client.

Will Masters week help get new customers or clients?

You bet it will! They cannot help themselves when a relationship is started this way.

Is Augusta special, and why?

Augusta is at its best during Masters week. The flowers are in bloom and the weather is wonderful. People are friendly and helpful. And while you are here in Augusta, Georgia, enjoying the Masters Golf Tournament, you will find plenty to do. There are gyms and fittness centers, sports and recreation, a great variety of fine arts, movie theaters, restaurants, shopping and night life entertainment. Transportation is also plentiful.

What can I expect to spend on each customer or client?

Probably, to do it first class (not counting airfare), somewhere between $5,500 and $7,000 dollars, per client. This includes a very nice home, transportation from home to the golf course and back, parking at the golf course, maid service, a professional chef (not including food and alcoholic beverages) and golf or the option of fishing. And shuttle service to the Airport.

Can I do this for only part of the week?

Yes, either the first part (practice rounds), or the actual four day tournament. Practice round tickets can be gotten on the street several days before practice rounds start. Probably about $1,200.00 per client for housing only (Monday thru Wednesday). For half day to actual tournament (Thursday through Sunday), including housing $4,500.00 per client with a series badge included at no charge.

How many people can I bring?

Most people bring either eight or twelve people. Usually this means four or six clients going in the morning and the other four or six clients going in the afternoon. The next day, they switch. Sometimes half the group goes fishing while the other half is at the tournament, or as an option they play golf on one of the local golf courses.

Suppose I have other guests?

Call Cliff Channell on his cell phone at (706) 399-8530. Cliff is easy to talk to and knows how to take care of your planning. He and Rita have been doing this for over 30 years.

What is the most you have seen a corporation pay for Masters week?

In the ‘dot-com’ era, before 9 / 11, $285,000.00 was paid for the one week Masters Golf Tournament package. However, in exchange for this amount, they got a $150 million dollar contract with a company they could not get in to see previously. A relationship was established and still exists today.

Is this kind of contract success common?

No, not since 9 / 11. Depending on your customer and how much they mean to you, determines whether you include air fare. Some companies have a private plane.

How can a golf fan handle this?

Most people can’t. That’s why they bring eight or twelve people to spread the cost. Some golf buddies come and are willing to spend $5,000 + for the week.

How and when do I reserve your week-long package?

Typically, a 25 percent deposit is made initially when you first contact us, then another 25 percent is paid by August 7th, another 25 percent is paid by December 1st, and the balance is due by February 1st, preceding the tournament.

How can people afford this Masters week package?

Some people can’t, but most write off the week as a business expense. This equates to Uncle Sam, and state, paying 40 percent of the cost. You see, 40 percent of $5,000 is $2,000 in business write-offs. Therefore, only a $3,000.00 investment is required, providing a chance to increase your profits. Depending on your client and your profit margins, you could make a profit and have your Masters week trip for free.

Will I have to sign a lease?

There is a very short lease with the customary release of liability and damage clauses, stating that you would be responsible for any unusual damages.

Is a complete Masters week package difficult to arrange?

To have a complete and professionally arranged week-long package can be complicated and frustrating unless you book your week through someone who has experience and a proven track record. The Channells have been doing this for 30 years. If you deal with them, you will be happy with your package and not have to worry about the details. If for any reason they were unable to perform the entire package of services, you would get 100 percent of your money back. There are even bank references available upon request.

When is the best time to make arrangements for a Masters week?

As soon as you decide that you want to enjoy the number one golf tournament in the world. Don’t put it off!
